Senate Finance Committee to hold first in series of hearings on PawSox stadium finance proposal

STATE HOUSE — The Senate Finance Committee will meet Thursday to review legislation that would provide public support for a new stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House.

The resolution (2017-S 0989), introduced by Senate Finance Committee Chairman William J. Conley Jr. (D-Dist. 18, East Providence, Pawtucket), would authorize the state to enter into lease and financing agreements in connection with a ballpark.

This is the first of several hearings scheduled on the proposal. The committee will outline the hearing process, receive an overview of the proposal, and take public testimony. A website, www.PawSoxHearings.com, has been established as an additional way for the public to register their opinions with the committee and to track the progress of the hearings. Thursday’s hearing will be broadcast live by Capitol Television and streamed live on the General Assembly’s website.
